Non-Fraud Dispute Representation

Bolt represents merchants for all fraud-related disputes by default. However, eligible merchants can upgrade their dispute coverage by joining Bolt’s dispute consultancy program, which includes non-fraud chargeback representation.

Allowing Bolt to handle disputes can benefit merchants by:

  • Protecting or improving the merchant’s authorization rate
  • Improving payment-step conversion rates

Chargeback Handling Process

1. Fraudulent Chargebacks

Bolt handles fraudulent chargebacks by default. See our chargeback policy for more details.

2. Non-Fraudulent Chargebacks

Merchants enrolled in Bolt’s chargeback consultancy program can submit a request form to Bolt Support for chargeback representation. Merchants should include all relevant documentation outlined in Bolt’s dispute guide. This enables Bolt to win more disputes on your behalf.


  • Merchant must have <20 merchant-liable disputes per month to qualify


Bolt Support must have limited access to your payment processor portal in order to handle disputes on your behalf. This enables our team to collect and submit dispute evidence, as well as quickly respond to all time-sensitive action items associated with your chargebacks.

  1. Log in to the Customer Area using your company-level account.
  2. Navigate to Account > Users.
  3. Select Add new user.
  4. Update Contact Details with the following:
    • Title: Bolt Chargebacks
    • Name: Bolt Chargebacks
    • Email:
  5. Navigate to Roles and Associated Accounts.
  6. Select the following roles:
    • Merchant Dispute Management
    • Merchant System Messages
    • Merchant Technical Integrator

  1. Log into the Merchant Interface.
  2. Navigate to Account > User Administration.
  3. Select + Add User.
  4. Choose the type of user you would like to add.
  5. Customize the permissions.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Create a Login ID; must be at least six (6) characters.
  8. Enter the new user’s information.
  9. Select Submit.
  10. Select Request Pin to verify and start the authentication process. A pin number will be sent to the Bolt email address.
  11. Bolt Support will retrieve the PIN from the email.

When Bolt verifies the pin, you will see an Identify Verified status.

  1. Log in to the Braintree Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings icon > Team.
  3. Select New User.
  4. Input the following into the user details:
    • Name: Bolt Chargebacks
    • Email:
  5. Select Rights Granted and check the following:
    • Download Transactions with Masked Payment Data (Transactions)
    • Create, Run, and Download Reports (Reports)
    • View, manage and contest disputes (Disputes Management)
  6. Select the associated Merchant Account ID(s) this user needs access to.
  7. Select Create User.

Chase Paymentech

Your merchant account must have Paymentech’s Online Chargeback Management System for Bolt to process chargebacks.

  1. Call Chase Merchant Services at 888-886-8869 and request the Online Management System be added to your merchant account.
  2. Add an account for Bolt Chargebacks with the following details:

  1. Log in the Cybersource.
  2. Select the Account Management > Users. The Users page appears.
  3. Select Add User.
  4. Select the correct Merchant ID in the drop down list.
  5. Enter the user’s name and email address.
    • Name: Bolt
    • Email:
  6. Select a role.
  7. Optionally select a user group.
  8. Save.


  1. Log in to NMI.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Users.
  3. Select INVITE USER.
  4. Complete user information.
  5. Define permissions.
  6. Select SEND INVITE.

  1. Log in to your PayPal Business Profile.
  2. Navigate to Profile and settings > My settings.
  3. Select Manage Users > Get Started.
  4. Select Add user.
  5. Enter User information and Create User Login Information.
  6. Select the Process Refunds permission.
  7. Save.
